India and Japan will hold their third '2+2' ministerial dialogue on August 20 in New Delhi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will meet their Japanese counterparts, Yoko Kamikawa and Minoru Kihara, to discuss enhancing strategic ties and reviewing Indo-Pacific security. The dialogue, established in 2019, aims to deepen defence and security cooperation between the two nations. India has similar '2+2' dialogues with only a few countries, including the US, Australia, and Russia.

Mainank Patel, a 36-year-old Indian-origin man, was shot and killed during a robbery at his convenience store in North Carolina. Patel, who owned Tobacco House on Airport Road, was attacked on Tuesday morning. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 hang-up call from the store and discovered Patel with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transferred to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center and later to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, where he died.
