The Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Group marked India’s 78th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration in Slough. The event, held early in the morning, featured a flag hoisting ceremony led by Slough Mayor Balwinder Singh Dhillon, who praised IDUK’s efforts, stating, "Bringing the community together like this is truly commendable." Slough Council Leader Dexter Smith commended the strong bond between India and the UK, expressing admiration for the large turnout, saying, "It's incredible to see so many people turn up at 7:30 AM on a working day." The celebration included cultural performances that showcased the community’s love for India. Prominent guests such as Ex-Army Officer Ashok Chauhan and former Mayor Meva Maan joined in the festivities. The event was skillfully hosted by Ashish Mishra, and IDUK co-founders Hirdesh Gupta, Ajay Murudkar, and Alok Gupta extended heartfelt thanks to participants, sponsors, and volunteers. The event was a powerful reminder of the unity and resilience of the Indian community in the UK.
