Delhi's Karkardooma court denied bail to former JNU student leader Umar Khalid in a UAPA case linked to the 2020 Delhi riots. Khalid, imprisoned since September 2020, sought bail citing delays and parity with other accused. Special judge Sameer Bajpai reserved the order on May 13. The Delhi police opposed the plea, labeling it "frivolous and baseless." Khalid's counsel argued no terror charges were substantiated and claimed a biased media trial. A bomb threat on IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi prompted an emergency evacuation on Tuesday. Naveen Khichi, owner of Baby Care New Born Hospital in east Delhi, and on-duty doctor Akash have been remanded to police custody until May 30 following a fire that killed seven babies. A DJ was fatally shot at Extreme Bar in Ranchi on May 27 after staff refused to serve alcohol to a group of men past closing time. The attacker, identified as Abhishek Singh, shot DJ Sandeep at point-blank range and fled the scene. CCTV footage captured Singh, wearing only shorts and a t-shirt over his face, committing the crime. Sandeep was declared dead at RIMS hospital. Singh has been arrested in Gaya, Bihar, and handed over to Jharkhand Police. Authorities are interrogating bar staff and examining CCTV to identify Singh's accomplices.
