Naveen Khichi, owner of Baby Care New Born Hospital in east Delhi, and on-duty doctor Akash have been remanded to police custody until May 30 following a fire that killed seven babies. The fire broke out on Saturday night, leading to a magisterial probe ordered by the Delhi government. Investigations revealed expired licenses and underqualified staff. A case has been registered under sections including culpable homicide. Twelve babies were admitted during the incident; seven died, and five are being treated. Khichi, previously accused of negligence in 2021, had absconded but was arrested on Sunday.
