The heatwave death toll in India has climbed to 56, with 46 fatalities reported in May alone. The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) data shows that temperatures above 46°C have claimed lives in central, eastern, and northern India, including Delhi. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a gradual respite from the scorching heat over the next two to three days. Delhi is expected to witness a cloudy sky and isolated heatwave conditions, with a possibility of thunderstorms and light rain. Relief is on the horizon, but the heatwave's severity remains a concern.
