Flood in Assam Claim Six lives, 3.5 Lakh People Affected

The flood situation in Assam worsened on Friday with six new deaths, bringing the toll to 12 since May 28. Over 3.5 lakh people are affected across 11 districts due to incessant rainfall from Cyclone Remal. Cachar district is the worst hit, with 1,19,997 people affected. Road and rail communication in Barak Valley has been severely disrupted, with urban flooding reported in Kamrup, Cachar, and Jorhat. PM Narendra Modi has assured central assistance, while Home Minister Amit Shah has contacted CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Rescue operations have evacuated 615 people, with significant damage to infrastructure, including 11 roads and 3 embankments.
