Bruhat Soma, a 12-year-old Indian-American student, scripted history by winning the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He correctly spelled 29 words in 90 seconds, including complex ones, in the lightning round. Soma's championship word was "abseil". In the tiebreaker, he answered 29 out of 30 words correctly, beating Faizan Zaki. Soma's achievement breaks the standing spell-off record set by Harini Logan in 2022.
