Over 20 devotees suffered burn injuries when firecrackers exploded during the Chandan Yatra festival in Puri, Odisha, on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at the 'Chapa Khela' event, where hundreds had gathered to watch water sports. Sparks from the crackers fell on the crowd, causing injuries. The victims were taken to the district hospital, but due to a lack of a dedicated burn unit, 18 critical patients were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Local residents expressed frustration over the inadequate medical response, citing a shortage of doctors.
