Manipur's CM N Biren Singh highlighted the influx of over 5,800 Myanmar migrants seeking refuge in Kamjong district amid ongoing civil strife. Of these, 15 have passed away naturally, while 359 have returned to Myanmar. Singh underscored the commitment to deport migrants once stability is restored in Myanmar, prioritizing the welfare of indigenous communities. The migration has led to the emergence of nearly 996 new villages in the state. Migrants are housed in separate camps managed by local committees, receiving essential support from the administration. Despite eagerness to return for the cultivation season, recent Myanmar army bombings have instilled hesitation among migrants.
