The Central Water Commission (CWC) has sounded the alarm as India's water reserves have plummeted to a worrying low. The southern region is the worst hit, with reservoirs operating at just 15% capacity, down from 17% last week. Nationally, live storage levels have dropped to 27%, significantly lower than last year's 36% and the 10-year average of 32%. The CWC monitors 150 reservoirs with a total capacity of 178.784 billion cubic meters, but current levels are far below that. This drastic decline raises concerns about water availability for the coming months.
