India has decided to deploy a full-time station manager at its Arctic research facility, Himadri, in Norway. This move comes after the country's successful first winter research expedition to the Arctic. The station manager will ensure smooth functioning of visiting research teams, facilitate observations, and maintain instruments. India has initiated the hiring process for this position. This decision is crucial for liaisoning with Norwegian agencies and expanding India's research footprint in the Arctic. Himadri is India's northernmost permanent research facility, and over 400 Indian researchers have visited since 2008. The facility is shared with Italy and Japan at the Gruvebadet laboratory.
