Indian Navy Modernization: Rs 60,000 Crore Tender Issued to Upgrade Submarine Fleet

The Indian Navy has initiated trials for its ambitious submarine modernization project, worth Rs 60,000 crore. The project aims to build six stealth submarines with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, enabling prolonged underwater operations. Competing teams, including Larsen and Toubro and Mazagaon Dockyard Limited, are participating in the trials. The submarines will be built in collaboration with Germany and Spain under the Make In India program, with Indian firms expected to receive over Rs 30,000 crore in business. The trials are currently underway in Germany and will move to Spain in June.
