India is set to host a Kenyan delegation later this month to explore sourcing cheetahs for Project Cheetah's next phase. The delegation will discuss Kenya's willingness to translocate cheetahs, terms, and numbers. India plans to introduce 8-14 cheetahs annually for five years. Kenya is being considered due to India's experience with cheetah deaths from infections. A South African team recently visited potential reintroduction sites, including Gandhi Sagar sanctuary, which may also source cheetahs from South Africa. Currently, 27 cheetahs are in Kuno, with 10 having died from illnesses.
