India conducted a successful test of the SMART system, designed by DRDO, to boost the Navy's anti-submarine warfare capabilities. Launched from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, the system features a supersonic missile releasing a torpedo. It includes advanced sub-systems like solid propulsion, electromechanical actuators, and precise navigation. The missile, housed in a canister, is launched from a ground mobile launcher. Key validations include symmetric separation, ejection, and velocity control. This system extends the range of lightweight torpedoes, enhancing India's maritime defense capabilities.
