Australia has expelled Indian spies for trying to access sensitive defense and airport security secrets, reported by the ABC. The spies allegedly monitored Indian residents and built relationships with politicians. The Washington Post stated an Indian intelligence member was removed over an alleged plot to harm a Sikh leader in the US. ASIO hinted at a spy ring in their 2021 threat assessment. Indian officials have not responded to the ABC report. Two Indian operatives were reportedly expelled from Australia in 2020 following an ASIO operation.
