The US Central Command confirmed the attack, stating that three anti-ship ballistic missiles were launched from Yemen. The vessel sustained minor damage, according to British maritime security firm Ambrey. Houthi militants have previously targeted ships in the region, disrupting maritime traffic. The attack on the Andromeda Star follows a temporary halt in Houthi hostilities against vessels linked to Israel, the US, and the UK. The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier has since departed the area after safeguarding commercial shipping.
