Tiruchirappalli airport's Air Intelligence Unit struck gold again, seizing 977 grams of 24-carat gold worth ₹70.58 lakh from a passenger arriving from Dubai. The gold was cleverly concealed in three packets of paste-like material tucked inside the passenger's rectum. The individual, traveling on Air India Express, has been apprehended as investigations unfold. This follows a similar incident in March, where 410 grams of gold valued at ₹26.62 lakh were confiscated from a passenger arriving from Singapore. In that case, 330 grams were extracted from paste, while 80 grams were hidden in the passenger's vest.
