The Calcutta High Court dealt a blow to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government by cancelling the 2016 recruitment panel for school teachers due to a job scam, dismissing over 24,000 jobs. Illegally recruited teachers were ordered to repay their salaries within four weeks. The court mandated a fresh recruitment process and instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate further and report within three months. Nearly 23 lakh candidates had applied for 24,640 posts. District magistrates were tasked with salary collection. The court ruled the appointments 'null and void,' emphasizing the need for a fair process.
