Amir Sarfaraz, the Pakistani underworld figure accused of killing Indian national Sarabjit Singh in a Lahore jail, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Lahore. Sarfaraz, alias Tamba, a close associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba's founder, was acquitted in 2018 due to "lack of evidence." Singh, who spent over two decades in a Pakistani jail, died in 2013 after being attacked by inmates, allegedly including Sarfaraz. His family maintained he was innocent. The incident occurred amidst heightened tensions, following the recent hanging of Afzal Guru in India. Singh's plight was depicted in the film "Sarabjit" in 2016.
