India's Navy Takes On Arabian Sea Pirates in Daring Red Sea Missions

Since mid-December, the Indian Navy's Operation Sankalp in the Arabian Sea has conducted 18 rescue missions following attacks on merchant ships in the Gulf of Oman in June 2019. Responding to the Israel-Hamas conflict's impact, the Navy has dealt with 18 incidents in the Red Sea corridor between December 2023 and March 2024. Serving as the foremost responder and favored security ally in the Indian Ocean Region, the Navy provided assistance to several nations amidst escalating piracy risks and drone/missile strikes in crucial trade routes, reaffirming its pivotal role in safeguarding maritime security and facilitating international cooperation.
