The first aircraft of the Tejas Mk-1A series, a variant of the Indian Air Force's light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas, completed its maiden flight on Thursday. Manufactured by Defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru, the 18-minute flight was piloted by Gp Capt (retd) KK Venugopal, HAL's chief test pilot. Developed by the Bengaluru-based DRDO lab Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the Tejas Mk-1A had been undergoing taxi trials before its successful flight. This marks a significant milestone in the advancement of India's indigenous fighter aircraft program.
