In Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, police engaged in an encounter with four Naxalites, who collectively had a bounty of Rs 36 lakh on their heads. The operation was prompted by intelligence indicating their infiltration from Telangana to disrupt the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. During a search operation, the Naxalites opened fire, prompting retaliation from the police. The clash resulted in the death of all four Naxalites, including two secretaries of Naxal committees. Weapons, literature, and other materials were recovered from the site. This successful operation signifies a significant setback to Naxal activities in the area.
