India expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in response to Ottawa abruptly expelling an Indian official alleged to be the RAW intelligence head in Canada. Sources said India asked the station chief of Canadian intelligence, Olivier Sylvestere operating undercover, to leave within 5 days. India asserted its decision reflects concerns over Canadian diplomats' growing interference in internal affairs and involvement in anti-India activities on Canadian soil. The tit-for-tat expulsion comes after Canada levelled allegations over India's role in a Sikh militant's killing. India denounced meddling by Canadian authorities in an attempt to malign Indian agencies to please some fringe constituents domestically.
