The Seattle Police Officers Guild has issued an apology after bodycam footage showed officer Daniel Auderer making insensitive comments about Jaahnavi Kandula, who was struck and killed by a police cruiser. Auderer was heard laughing and quoting a hypothetical lawyer saying Kandula had "limited value" due to her age. In a statement, Auderer said he was expressing frustration about the legal system's callousness and did not intend to diminish Kandula's life. The police union apologized for revictimizing Kandula's family but argued Auderer's comments were taken out of context. Nevertheless, the remarks threatened community trust in the Seattle Police Department. The union's statement comes amid ongoing scrutiny over the fatal collision.
