An Indian-origin gang leader, Charan Singh, and 15 other individuals were sentenced to over 70 years in prison total for their roles in a west London organized crime group. The UK's National Crime Agency investigation found the gang likely laundered around £70 million out of the UK between 2017-2019, earned from Class A drugs and immigration crime. Singh received a 12.5-year sentence as the ringleader. Other key members received 9 years to 11 months. The NCA also uncovered a plot by the gang to smuggle 17 migrants in 2019, which was prevented through cooperation with Dutch police. In total, the convictions represent a major takedown of a prolific money laundering criminal network.
