Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah expressed disturbance over the massive popularity of films like The Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story and Gadar 2. In an interview, he said such jingoistic movies promoting hatred towards certain communities are very harmful. Shah stated that it's worrying filmmakers like Vivek Agnihotri are being co-opted into praising the wrong things. He urged directors like Sudhir Mishra and Hansal Mehta to not lose heart and keep portraying the truth. Shah believes regressive films spreading fake narratives will be exposed in posterity when judged against ones capturing reality like Bheed. He termed the trend of such movies gaining traction as frightening and dangerous.
