After missing the in-person G20 meeting in New Delhi, Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the virtual G20 summit on November 22. Putin did not attend the last two G20 gatherings hosted by India and Indonesia, sending Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov instead. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the virtual summit, focusing on key outcomes from the New Delhi summit and addressing the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Israel-Hamas tensions. The G20, comprising major economies and unions, will also aim to ensure effective implementation of decisions made during India's G20 presidency.
