Sri Lanka released 14 Indian fishermen on Sunday as a special gesture during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake discussed the issue in Colombo, agreeing on a “humane approach.” Over 140 Indian fishermen were arrested this year for crossing into Sri Lankan waters. The Tamil Nadu government has urged the Centre to help. Modi stressed the need for a “constructive solution.” Both countries plan more talks to prevent such incidents. The visit also saw the launch of two India-backed railway projects to strengthen ties. (PC: PMO)
