Renuka alias Banu, a top Maoist leader with a ₹25 lakh bounty, was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district. The gunfight, which began at 9 AM, involved the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and police teams from Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Telangana. Banu, in charge of the Naxal media team, was a resident of Telangana’s Warangal. Security forces recovered an INSAS rifle, ammunition, and other items from the site. This marks a significant blow to Naxal operations in the Bastar region, where 119 Naxalites have been killed in 2025 alone. (PC: New18)
