Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra's recent performance in Mumbai's Khar area has ignited political controversy. During his act, Kamra parodied the song 'Bholi Si Surat' to satirize Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, labeling him a 'gaddar' (traitor) in reference to Shinde's 2022 rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, which led to the collapse of the previous government. In response, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) members filed police complaints and allegedly vandalized the performance venue. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has called for special protection for Kamra, akin to the security provided to actress Kangana Ranaut during her past disputes with the Shiv Sena. The Mumbai police have registered multiple cases against Kamra under sections 353 and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. (PC: The New Indian Express)
