On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar, resulting in over 1,000 fatalities and injuring more than 2,300 individuals. The quake caused widespread destruction, collapsing buildings and infrastructure, and was followed by significant aftershocks. Neighboring Thailand also experienced casualties and damage, with six deaths and numerous injuries reported. Myanmar's military-led government declared a state of emergency in the affected regions, complicating relief efforts due to ongoing civil conflict. In response, India launched 'Operation Brahma,' dispatching 15 tonnes of relief materials via the Indian Air Force to assist those impacted by the disaster. Additionally, two Indian Navy ships carrying 40 tonnes of aid are en route to Yangon port to provide further humanitarian assistance. (PC: One India)
