On 28th March, 2025 a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, impacting regions as far as Bangkok, Thailand. In Myanmar, at least 144 fatalities and over 730 injuries have been reported, with significant damage in Mandalay. In Bangkok, the collapse of an under-construction skyscraper resulted in at least eight deaths and nine injuries, with more than 100 individuals still missing. Both nations have declared states of emergency as search and rescue operations continue amid fears of rising casualties. During a press event at the White House, U.S president Donald Trump said, "We're going to be helping” after being asked about the Myanmar earthquake. "It's terrible what's happened," he said. "We've already spoken with the country." But Trump did not elaborate on how the U.S. plans to send foreign aid.
