On March 28, a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar near Sagaing, causing significant destruction. In Mandalay, the historic 90-year-old Ava Bridge collapsed into the Irrawaddy River. The tremors, felt as far as Bangkok (900 km away), caused a high-rise under construction in the Chatuchak district to collapse, killing at least three people and trapping over 40 workers. Thai authorities declared a disaster area, suspending metro and rail services. The quake also affected northeastern India, Bangladesh, and China's Yunnan province, with aftershocks feared. Rescue operations are ongoing in both Myanmar and Thailand. (PC: AFP)
