A fire at an electrical substation in Hayes, West London, ignited late Thursday night, leading to a significant power outage that has forced the closure of Heathrow Airport until 11:59 PM on March 21. The London Fire Brigade responded with ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters to tackle the blaze, which erupted after a transformer caught fire. As a precaution, around 150 individuals were evacuated from nearby properties, and a 200-meter safety cordon was established. The outage has disrupted airport operations, with all flights suspended and passengers advised against traveling to the airport. Eurocontrol confirmed that no arrivals are permitted, and diversion plans are active. The fire has also left thousands of homes without power.
