Nagpur Police have identified Fahim Khan as the mastermind behind the March 17 communal clashes, releasing his photo and alleging his hate speech incited violence. Khan, the city president of the Minorities Democratic Party, had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election against BJP’s Nitin Gadkari but lost by over 6.5 lakh votes. The violence erupted in Chitnis Park over claims of religious desecration, leaving 34 police personnel injured. A curfew remains in sensitive areas, with over 2,000 armed personnel deployed. Authorities state the situation is under control, but no arrests have been made yet.
