A New Mexico court has issued a temporary restraining order preventing the release of records related to the deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. The couple was found deceased in their Santa Fe home in late February. Autopsies revealed that Hackman, 95, succumbed to heart disease complicated by advanced Alzheimer's disease, while Arakawa, 65, died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease transmitted by rodents. The court's decision responds to a motion by Julia Peters, the estate's representative, emphasizing the family's right to privacy under the 14th Amendment. Consequently, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office and the state Office of the Medical Investigator are temporarily barred from releasing photographs, videos, autopsy reports, or death investigation documents.
