In his recent address to Congress, President Donald Trump announced that the United States will implement reciprocal tariffs on nations imposing high tariffs on U.S. goods, effective April 2. He specifically criticized India for levying auto tariffs exceeding 100%, labeling such practices as "very unfair." Trump emphasized that countries like the European Union, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Canada impose significantly higher tariffs on U.S. products compared to what the U.S. charges them. He stated, "If you don’t make your product in America under the Trump administration, you will pay a tariff." The decision to commence these tariffs on April 2, rather than April 1, was made to avoid any association with April Fools' Day.
