In July 2023, a flash flood struck Khad village in Himachal Pradesh's Una district, damaging approximately 10 houses. A video from the incident shows a car being swept away; fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed. The local Meteorological Department issued a "yellow" alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in the plains, low, and mid-hills until July 9, predicting a wet spell until July 11. They also warned of potential flash floods in Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Solan districts, along with possible damage to crops and disruptions to water and electricity services. Since the monsoon onset on June 24, Himachal Pradesh has incurred losses totaling ₹306.58 crore, with the Public Works Department and Jal Shakti Vibhag being the most affected.
