A group of Indian deportees from the US, held in Panama's detention centers, arrived in New Delhi on Sunday evening, according to India Today. This marks the first repatriation of Indians from Panama after the US deported 299 illegal immigrants. The deportees are from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, and were flown to New Delhi on a Turkish Airlines flight. Panama's security minister stated that more than half of the deported migrants, mostly from Asia, opted for voluntary repatriation. The group had been staying in Panama City under the protection of local authorities and financial support from the US via the International Organization for Migration.
