US officials have clarified that President Donald Trump’s proposal to temporarily resettle Gaza’s population would be a short-term solution. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that the displaced Palestinians would leave the area during reconstruction efforts. Trump's suggestion to "take over" Gaza has drawn international criticism, as forcibly relocating populations is prohibited under international law. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt emphasized that the US has no plans for a permanent presence or military involvement in Gaza, which has suffered extensive damage during ongoing conflict. More than 47,000 people have died in Gaza since October 2023.
