A US military C-17 aircraft carrying 104 illegal Indian immigrants, including 13 children, landed in Amritsar from San Antonio, Texas. The deportees, mostly caught at the US-Mexico border, include 33 from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, and 30 from Punjab. Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal expressed disappointment, urging External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to address the issue. The move aligns with President Donald Trump’s mass deportation pledge, targeting 18,000 undocumented Indians. With 725,000 illegal Indian immigrants in the US, further deportations are expected. A US Embassy representative was present at the airport.
