At least 30 bodies have been recovered after an American Airlines jet with 60 passengers and a Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air over Washington DC’s Potomac River. The jet, carrying US and Russian figure skaters, was approaching Reagan National Airport when it rapidly lost altitude. The Pentagon has launched an investigation. Former Russian world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were among the victims. President Donald Trump called the crash “preventable,” questioning air traffic control decisions. Over 300 responders continue searching the frigid waters as flights remain grounded at Reagan National Airport.
