A mid-air collision between an American Airlines flight from Wichita, Kansas, and a Black Hawk helicopter over Washington DC’s Potomac River has left at least 19 dead. The jet, carrying 60 passengers and four crew, crashed alongside the helicopter with three soldiers aboard near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport around 21:00 local time. Freezing temperatures have complicated rescue efforts. US Figure Skating confirmed "several members" were on the plane. President Donald Trump questioned why the helicopter "didn’t go up or down" to avoid the crash. Authorities continue to search for survivors.
