In a heart-wrenching moment at Sealdah court on Saturday, the father of a 31-year-old RG Kar Hospital trainee doctor broke down after Sanjay Roy was found guilty of rape and murder. Roy, a former Kolkata Police civic volunteer, was convicted under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for the brutal crime, which shocked the nation in August 2024. As the judge delivered the verdict, the victim’s father thanked the court for justice. He stated, "We will keep knocking on the doors of the court until we receive justice." Sentencing will occur on Monday.
