Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted again on Monday, sending columns of lava up to 80 meters (262 feet) into the air. The eruption occurred in the southwestern section of the caldera, with molten rock spraying from fissures. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory confirmed lava fountains reached impressive heights and volcanic gas and particles are soaring 6,000-8,000 feet into the atmosphere. This eruption follows a series of regular eruptions since 1983. The volcanic activity could cause hazardous vog, impacting air quality and potentially affecting wildlife and crops.
