Delhi Hits Season’s Coldest Temperature at 4.5°C, Cold Wave Alert Continues

Delhi recorded its coldest morning of the season on Thursday, with temperatures dropping to 4.5°C, according to the India Meteorological Department. Cold wave conditions, which began on December 11, are expected to last until December 13. This is the first time in 14 years that temperatures in early December have fallen below 5°C. Similar cold wave conditions have also been reported in parts of Rajasthan, with Sikar recording 1.5°C. A cold wave is defined when temperatures drop 4.5 to 6.4°C below normal, with severe cold wave conditions when the drop exceeds 6.4°C.
