The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Cyclone Fengal is set to hit Tamil Nadu today, bringing heavy to extremely heavy rain in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, and nearby districts. A red alert has been issued for these regions, with Chennai under a yellow alert. Schools and colleges are closed in affected districts, while 17 teams have been deployed for disaster management. Relief centres, equipment, and volunteers are on standby. Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed preventive measures, including canal desilting and flood readiness. Rainfall is expected to intensify in coastal areas through November 28, with scattered showers inland.
