Bangladesh’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus announced his administration will seek the extradition of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India. Hasina fled to India following a student-led uprising in August that toppled her 15-year rule and caused over 600 deaths. Yunus, in his 100-day address, vowed to investigate her role in the deaths and alleged human rights abuses, including enforced disappearances. A special tribunal has sought Interpol’s help to arrest Hasina. Yunus also revealed discussions with the International Criminal Court regarding her prosecution. His government aims to reform the electoral system before holding fresh elections to restore democracy.
