The United States has repatriated approximately 1,100 Indian nationals who attempted to enter the country illegally over the past year, according to a senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official. This marks a "steady increase" in repatriations of Indians in recent years. Royce Murray, assistant secretary for Border and Immigration Policy at DHS, recently traveled to India to witness the return flight of illegal immigrants. The DHS views the Indian government as a crucial partner in combating human smuggling organizations that target Indians.
