Delhi Faces 'Very Poor' Air Quality as Diwali Approaches

Delhi's air quality reached "very poor" levels, with an AQI of 264 on Monday morning. Some areas, like Defence Colony, recorded an even higher AQI of 324. Although better than the previous day, pollution remains a major health risk. Calm winds and rising Diwali celebrations are likely to worsen air quality. To combat pollution, the Delhi government has enforced a ban on regular firecrackers and pushed for increased public transport use. The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 2 is also in effect, focusing on reducing pollution. However, illegal firecracker sales in nearby areas continue to pose challenges.
